If you tried buying these pants this season based on our recommendation in Serious Grouse Hunting, Book 1, you were SOL because LL Bean was sold out of them.

Jay learned that before the season even started, after sacrificing his pair of these pants for tests by WL Gore related to the book. He figured he could just get another pair, but nope!

He was seriously bummed.

His Cabela’s Gore-Tex upland pants have performed well this season, but as we’ve said many times, nothing beats the fit of Bean’s upland pants.

Don’t know if it’s just the articulated knees or what, but Bean’s upland pants don’t bind and feel so much lighter than any other pants. And while we know some guys will be buried in waxed cotton, we feel Gore-Tex – while not always 100% foolproof in the tough-on-clothes upland world – is much better.

So our recommendation is, even though you may not need these pants before next fall, order a pair before they’re gone.

In fact, because Gore-Tex in upland situations must be maintained more frequently to work properly (covered in the book…), if you’re hunting multiple days in wet weather away from a washer and dryer, you might want two pairs of Gore-Tex pants, which each of us has. We’re Serious!

Check out the pants here. We recommend you order one or two sizes up in the waist.
