Longest Feather Contest

January 18, 2011 | By | Reply More

We read recently about two Minnesota Pheasants Forever chapters having a Long Pheasant Feather contest. Entry fee was $40 per two-person team, and prizes were awarded for first, second and third place – of course for the longest tail feather.

Love it.

Sure, not some people’s cup o’ tea, but we don’t think this disrespects the bird – just makes for more fellowship and some trash-talking and feather-ogling at the local bar…or tea house, whatever you prefer.

Could this be extended to all upland birds? Don’t see why not – except for the fact that some birds may not get on the ground enough….

Turkey hunters measure spurs and beards, so not unusual for birds. What do you think?
